We recognise that many organisations have business needs that they want to address and may have identified SharePoint 2010 as part of the solution; however because they are not immersed in the detail of SharePoint it isn’t always clear what features they want, what the priorities are and what the information architecture and detailed design should be.
With many stakeholders involved and many choices to be made it can be difficult to make the rapid progress that is desired – too much haste leads to rushed decisions, too much planning and analysis leads to delay and a failure to get to grips with the solution.
Solution Accelerator and NHS SharePoint
Cloud2 adopt our Solution Accelerator approach: we commonly have a good idea about what makes up 80% of your solution since we have done it before. Instead of presenting your project team with a clean sheet of paper and telling you to describe what you want us to build, we do an early rollout of our NHS SharePoint Solution Accelerator, Hadron SA. This is a standard SharePoint deployment geared towards the needs of most trusts, with all the common structures, content types and features. It isn’t a finished solution, but it provides plenty for you to start to use, to learn how SharePoint works and what else you would like it to do for you. Then we fill in the gaps, enhance the functions and mould it to your needs.
The essence of Hadron SA is the rich Information Architecture, representing over a man years’ worth of development:
- Portal Areas – Major navigation and functional areas
- Information Archetypes – Where and how to locate content
- Content Types – Hierarchy of content definitions
- Metadata – Content description fields
This is supplemented with a set of powerful features such as faceted search, people search, tag clouds, Policies and Procedures management, News Centre and more.
